Barangay Sapa Grande is a simple and peaceful barangay situated at the southern part of the town Proper. It was named after the big stream bisecting the barangay. It has a total land area of 1,245.36 hectares comprised of seven sitios namely: sitio Wang-wang, Bobonaso, Dia-a, Botolan, Macbet, Proper East, and Proper West. Whereby people in the community are GOD fearing, supportive and cooperative leaving happily in a clean and green environment.
During the Spanish Regime, our Barangay was ruled by the Tenyente del Baryo. It was called as Barangay Sapang Grande by the Spaniards because while they were walking along and tired, they saw a big stream on the western part of our place. They took their nap along the side of the big stream. While they were conversing with each other beside the big stream, they called the stream as “Sapang Grande” which means “big stream”. At that time they called it as barangay “Sapang Grande”.
As later years passed a Plebiscite was done and it was ratified to Barangay Sapa Grande.
